Improve discovery through Google Business Profile, local listings and accurate location information.

Improve discovery through Google Business Profile, local listings and accurate location information.

What you will learn

  • Understand local-search eligibility
  • Complete and maintain accurate business information
  • Request and respond to genuine reviews

Before you begin

Use a real business only when you have permission to manage its information. Practise with a small budget or invented campaign first. Never publish customer information, account passwords, verification codes, private tokens or payment credentials.

Use eligible local profiles

A Google Business Profile can help eligible storefront and service-area businesses appear in Search and Maps. Online-only businesses without in-person customer contact may not qualify.

The business must use its real-world name and accurate location or service area. Do not create duplicate or misleading locations.

Keep details current

Add the correct category, hours, telephone number, website, photographs and attributes. Update special hours, closures and service changes promptly.

Use consistent business information across GambiaUsed, social profiles, directories and signage. Conflicting details make customers uncertain.

Handle reviews honestly

Invite genuine customers to leave an honest review without requiring a positive rating. Never buy, fabricate or exchange reviews.

Respond calmly, protect private information and explain how the customer can continue the conversation. Use recurring feedback to improve the operation.

Guided practice

  1. Check whether the business is eligible for a local profile.
  2. Audit name, location, hours and contact details across channels.
  3. Write one positive-review response and one complaint response.

Knowledge check

  1. Which businesses are generally eligible?
  2. Why must location information match reality?
  3. What makes a review request acceptable?

Completion standard

Continue when you can complete the guided practice and explain the knowledge-check answers in your own words.
