Connect safely, browse confidently and understand iCloud, AirDrop and connected-device features.
What you will learn
- Connect to trusted Wi-Fi and Bluetooth devices
- Use Safari tabs downloads and privacy controls
- Explain iCloud AirDrop and Continuity choices
Before you begin
Use non-sensitive practice files and save your work before changing settings. Menu names can vary with the macOS version and MacBook model, so use System Settings search or the Help menu when an option is not immediately visible.
Connect carefully
Choose a Wi-Fi network you recognise and enter its password privately. Treat unknown open networks as untrusted even when they provide internet access.
Pair Bluetooth devices only when you initiated the process. Remove old devices and networks that should no longer connect automatically.
Browse with care
Safari’s address and search field accepts website addresses and searches. Check the full domain before signing in, paying or downloading.
A secure connection does not prove that a website is honest. Treat urgent warnings, unexpected attachments and remote-support requests cautiously.
Understand sharing services
iCloud can sync supported files, photos, passwords and settings between devices using the same Apple Account. Syncing is useful but is not automatically a complete independent backup.
AirDrop shares nearby files after permission. Continuity features can connect Apple devices. Review visibility and sharing settings, especially in public places.
Guided practice
- Connect to a trusted Wi-Fi network and inspect its details.
- Open two Safari tabs and identify each domain.
- Review AirDrop visibility and one iCloud setting.
Knowledge check
- Does HTTPS prove a website is trustworthy?
- Is syncing the same as an independent backup?
- When should AirDrop visibility be limited?
Completion standard
Continue when you can complete the guided practice safely and explain the knowledge-check answers in your own words.
