What you will learn

  • Complete a practical security review
  • Create verification and emergency routines
  • Teach safety without blame

Safety note

Use invented examples during practice. Never publish or send real passwords, PINs, verification codes, recovery codes, private tokens or complete financial details. If money or account access may be at risk, contact the relevant provider promptly through independently verified official details.

Review the basics

List important accounts and confirm unique passwords, multifactor authentication, recovery details and updates. Review backups and restore a harmless test file.

Remove unused accounts, unknown sessions and unnecessary app permissions. Keep an offline or protected record of essential recovery contacts.

Agree on routines

Families and teams should agree how urgent money requests, new telephone numbers and account recovery will be verified. Use a known call-back method.

Create spending and approval limits where appropriate. Separate business and personal accounts and devices when practical.

Respond without blame

Scams are deliberately manipulative and can deceive experienced people. A calm response encourages early reporting, which can reduce harm.

Share new scam examples carefully without forwarding harmful links or exposing victims. Review the plan after incidents, new devices or major account changes.

Guided practice

  1. Complete the account, device, payment and backup checklist.
  2. Create a family or business verification rule.
  3. Practise a short scam-response drill.
  4. Schedule a quarterly safety review.

Knowledge check

  1. What belongs in a security review?
  2. Why is a call-back rule useful?
  3. Why should incidents be discussed without blame?

Completion standard

Continue when you can complete the guided practice safely and explain the knowledge-check answers in your own words.
